Polydendry beach is the first beach that one encounters after Agiokambos on the way to Rakopotamos. Its area reaches 300 meters and it is a deserted beach with small pebbles.
Polydendry beach is the first beach that one encounters after Agiokambos on the way to Rakopotamos. Its area reaches 300 meters and it is a deserted beach with small pebbles. Further along the coastline there are smaller beaches of 30-70 m. where access to them is only on foot, through paths.
Above Polydendry beach, visitors can find taverns-restaurants, cafe-bars as well as rooms for rent. The coastal settlement of Polydendri is built in lush vegetation, with rich flora and fauna. In the area, at a higher altitude, there is also the famous Polydendri Forest, a former royal estate where one can walk through the marked Polydendri path.
Koutsoupia
On the slope of Kissavos, next to the sea and in a verdant area, the coastal settlement of Koutsoupias is built amphitheatrically. It is located between Paliouria and Kokkino Nero and is 68 and 17 km from Larissa and Agiokambo. respectively. The settlement is separated by two streams and is distinguished by the water sources that exist.
In recent years, Koutsoupia has shown great tourist development and today the visitor can find everything he needs to spend his holidays. In Koutsoupia there are beach bars, taverns and many rooms for rent in front of the beach. The beach of Koutsoupia is picturesque, with fine sand. Thousands of tourists visit it every summer and enjoy their baths. Water sports are organized here and beach parties.
Velika
The Blue Flag awarded beach of Velika is a continuation of the beach of Agiokampos and Sotiritsa. In some places it is sandy while in others it is pebbly. It is fully organized, with many fish restaurants, supermarkets, coffee bars and many rooms for rent.
Every summer thousands of tourists flood the beach of Velika, to enjoy the wonderful, clean sea and the fresh seafood in the taverns, as well as the intense nightlife in the beach bars. On the beach of Velika there are the so-called “Vrahakia”. There, the landscape combined with the organized beach is unique and gathers a large number of people every day. On the beach of Velika, beach volleyball matches are organized and athletes from all over Greece participate. In the stream of Platanias Velikas, every year, as part of a cultural event called “Philoktiteia”, rich cultural events are organized, such as theatrical performances by well-known actors in the theater of Velikas and others. In addition to the theater, the Municipality has organized the space in the plane trees, with a stone square, a municipal refreshment center, a Citizen Service Center and a 5×5 football field.
In the stream of Platanias Velikas we find the Byzantine splendor of the castle, which was revealed by the archaeological excavations. From the same road we can visit the Monastery of Saint Ioanni the Theologian which has as a sample the remarkable Byzantine technique. Also, hiking on the Melivoia-Velika walking trail, organized with recreational areas, is a unique experience.
